X-TREME 6G

JCAS

project image

Joint Communication and Sensing (JCAS) is a fundamental concept in 6G, aiming to seamlessly integrate communication and sensing resources to create a unified and intelligent network. This integration aims to improve situational awareness, safety, and efficiency in diverse environments by leveraging real-time data and advanced sensing technologies.

In X-TREME 6G we will focus with some research on JCAS for industrial applications. One example could be autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) or robots in warehouses. Several AGVs or robots are communicating with an infrastructure and simultaneously the corresponding base stations are observing their environment as depicted in the Figure: a warehouse with two base stations of a campus network that simultaneously communicate with the AGVs and robots and monitor the environment around, e.g., to avoid accidents between the AGVs and workers. Here we look at systems operating at 26GHz and 140GHz.
