Energy Monitoring of Industrial Machines using 5G
Rising energy costs have become a significant issue for manufacturing companies, forcing more than half of them to make difficult decisions, such as reducing their profit margin, in response to the energy crisis. The real issue goes beyond just the energy costs but focuses on the amount of energy consumed. A large portion of what these companies spend is wasted due to inefficiencies.
Many companies operate with outdated machinery, which, as it ages, becomes more energy-intensive. Additionally, processes and activities inside their production plant are often not optimised under a consumption point of view. This wasted energy represents a double penalty: increased costs and reduced sustainability, making the issue an economic concern but also an environmental one as well. The solution lies on deploying a 5G-enabled energy sensor, capable of gathering real-time consumption data such as voltage, current, active/reactive power, allowing for edge-computing in real time. It offers the possibility to performance analysis but also intervene if necessary or if there are anomalies related to the machine monitored.
