Multi-layer Network Digital Twin for Industrial Manufacturing

In this use case, multiple robots collaborate to complete a complex industrial task. Each robot is equipped with specialized sensors and functionalities tailored to specific roles. However, their individual sensory and operational limitations prevent them from fully understanding or executing the task independently. To overcome this, the robots operate as a coordinated system, sharing information and capabilities through both collaborative actions and distributed sensing. A Multi-layer Digital Twin architecture supports this collaboration, enabling each robot to extend its perception beyond its own local sensors. The industrial environment provides a diverse set of contextual sensor data, ranging from spatial measurements to radio channel characteristic, across different areas and sensing modalities. This data feeds into multiple interconnected Digital Twins, such as an Environment Digital Twin, a Network Digital Twin, and an Application Digital Twin, which together provide a shared situational awareness and support informed decision-making across the robotic system.
