5G-RESCUE

use case image

5G-RESCUE develops a low-cost, 5G-enabled UGV using commodity hardware (Raspberry Pi + 5G HAT) to support emergency response, especially wildfire detection. The project extends the Patras5G/NOVA testbed to Egaleo with a portable nomadic 5G network, enabling real-time remote control, data collection, and AI-based analysis at the far edge.

Three Network Apps (Data Collector, Command & Control, Dashboard) plus the FIDAL wildfire detection app enhance UGV functionality.
A field trial with municipal police, civil protection teams, and citizens will validate performance (latency, throughput, reliability) and demonstrate improved safety, efficiency, and cost-effective UGV deployment.
