XR-assisted services for public safety / AR for improving Law Enforcement Agents (LEA) situational awareness

This use case focuses on enhancing the capabilities of Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) practitioners through the employment of Augmented Reality (AR) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies. Specifically, in this use case, a tailored AR application for law enforcement agents (LEA) is deployed on Head-Up Displays (HUD) to leverage their situational awareness in tactical and patrolling circumstances. To achieve this, the application captures the HUD camera video that is transmitted in real-time over B5G network infrastructure to a Network application running on Edge/Cloud, enabling the immediate analysis and interpretation of the crime scenes through ML mechanisms. The results of the scene analysis are transformed into pertinent meta-information, which is then transmitted back to the HUD and presented in the form of AR digital annotations. This approach enhances the efficiency of LEAs in responding to terrorist attacks and criminal threats by enabling them to swiftly identify significant findings and potential risks.
