ENVELOPE

REACT-5G enables ultra-reliable remote automotive diagnostics by implementing intelligent dual-path connectivity (5G + WiFi) over the ENVELOPE platform. Building on the operational DRIVE-5G system, which already serves independent workshops via 5G for remote ECU programming, diagnostics and flashing, REACT-5G addresses the critical limitation of single-path network unavailability. The system uses ENVELOPE's ATSSS-based multi-connectivity to simultaneously transmit diagnostic packets over both 5G and WiFi, with application-layer intelligent packet selection choosing the first-arriving packet per path. Integrated with ENVELOPE's Device Location and Predictive QoS APIs, the system proactively activates dual-path mode in problematic areas and prevents critical operations (e.g., firmware updates) when network instability is predicted. The target is to raise session availability from 85–95% to 99.99%, making remote diagnostics commercially viable for independent workshops across Europe through an affordable subscription model.
