AMBIENT-6G

Smart bridge heath monitoring

Continuous and precise bridge health monitoring is critical due to cumulative effects of natural disasters, heavy and continuous traffic loads, and gradual wear from environmental exposure. Early detection of structural deterioration enables significant savings in maintenance, extends service life, and enhances safety by addressing gradual degradation, corrosion, vibrations, and erosion around foundations. Utilising ambient Internet of Things (AIoT) systems effectively meets the heterogeneous monitoring demands by significantly reducing installation complexity, cost, and long-term maintenance compared to traditional wired or battery-powered sensors. Moreover, AIoT's energy-harvesting and efficient communication features ensure continuous and environmentally responsible operation.
