Ericsson, Telefónica, and MATSUKO collaborated on a Use case 3, successfully demonstrating holographic calls integrated directly into smartphone dialers using IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) Data Channel technology.
The system validates next-generation XR services in realistic operator environments, demonstrating the feasibility of mass-market holographic calling using smartphones (IMS DC).
The demonstrator proves enhanced communication quality, reduced mobility impact, and strong industrial relevance, supporting sectors such as training, telepresence, operations, and remote collaboration.
